What is Chasing Kosher SA?
Chasing Kosher is exactly that. Copied from the Australian model, Chasing Kosher finds high end chefs and works with them to curate an amazing menu with multiple courses all 100% Kosher. With the limited number of Kosher establishments in Johannesburg, the kosher consumer was looking for something fresh and different, hence the creation of Chasing Kosher.
After meeting with different chefs around Johannesburg, we pick the top chefs to source the finest kosher ingredients to create a high end 6 course dinner once a month (at this stage). Some months will be in small venues that will only be able to host 15-40 guests and some months we will use a larger venue to host 40-80 guests. Add your email to the database to keep updated and informed on every event, as once the tickets are sold, it’s another month till the next one.

How Does It Work ?
We scour Joburg searching for the best chefs & dining experiences. We then work with the chef to provide an authentic Kosher menu that is not readily available for kosher consumers.
Pre Bookings Commence
Once the date and location is confirmed and you would like to attend you will need to pre book in order to reserve your seat(s). We are anticipating a high demand so you need to be quick.
Enjoy Chasing Kosher
Once the venue has been “kashered” and your booking is confirmed, all you need to do is turn up and enjoy a truly memorable Kosher dining experience. You can book an intimate table of 2, a group table of 4, 6 or 8, or opt to join a shared table. The courses are paired with different Kosher wines, so we do recommend coming via Uber.
About The Chef
Born and raised in Johannesburg, Chef Caldon Strimling has a passion for working with Fresh and Health-conscious ingredients that are heartwarming and soulful.
His food is inspired by the Mediterranean, Asian and South African Homestyle cuisine – from Fine Dining to a creative take on Street Food.
He has worked as a chef at some of South Africa’s best restaurants such as Aurelias @ Emperors Palace, Punchinello’s @ the Pivot Hotel, Urbanology in JHB CBD. Also worked in the Middle East (City of Jordan).
